Custom Web Site Design Process

Designing Websites

We specialize in illustration and design for modern media delivery mediums such as the internet, CD-ROM, computer-based applications, and traditional print media.

Developing a Web site that works involves careful attention to the design process. We work closely with our clients and follow a six-step design program which assures you that your web site will meet your needs and within your budget.

The Website Design Process

1 DEFINE YOUR GOALS: We begin the design process by meeting with you to identify two or three goals for your Web site. Strategies will be developed to maximize the effectiveness and function of your site design while staying within your budget.

2 IDENTIFY YOUR AUDIENCE: The next step is to identify those whom you want to attract to your Web site. We will help you identify your clientele in order to structure your site to meet their needs and expectations.

3 SITE DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE: During this step we will develop content and your site will begin to take shape. Text, graphics, the site's "look and feel" and overall design will be created. A prototype will be produced and posted on your review page. You and others can interact directly with the site's construction as it is developed by logging on to the review page from any computer with an internet connection. This saves time and money when the final site construction begins.

4 SITE CONSTRUCTION: When your site prototype has been approved, final construction begins. Detailed navigation and content are created during this step. Only after the site has been completely tested is it published on the internet.

At the end of this stage you should expect;
• Finished HTML for all pages and content in place
• All navigational links structured and working
• All programming linked and ready for BETA testing
• All graphic design, illustration and photography in place
• Final proofreading completed
• Testing of site user support such as e-mail, etc...
• Archive made of all site components, HTML code
• Archived all other site development materials, imagery, media, etc…

5 SITE MARKETING: Your site should be tied directly to your other marketing materials. Your Web site address should be placed on materials generated for your business, including all business papers, advertising, correspondence and marketing collateral you produce.

Your Web site should appear in all;
• Print advertisements
• Radio and television advertisements
• Direct mail advertising
• Business card and stationery
• Invoices and billing statements
• Manuals and packaging
• Publications and promotional pieces
• Posters and billboards

6 EVALUATION AND MAINTENANCE: Don't leave your site stranded after you've spent so much time and energy developing it. Web sites need to be kept fresh and maintained. Links to sites outside yours can come and go. If you have regular events and promotions placed on your site you'll have to keep your site updated regularly. We can provide you with a maintenance contract to keep you site running smoothly 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
